Bill waits patiently for me to finish my sunrise photos.
I though this looked like an Irish castle.
Composite from 4 shots (about 150 degree view)
A
late start today. Almost 6 am before we hit the trail.
The walk from Temang to Chame is almost flat (except for
the occasional short steep downs and then back up the
hill for stream crossings)
A school compound??
Shortly before Chame we are back on the new road.
Throughout the mountains there are police check points
to make it easier to track missing tourists.
Years ago these bunkered positions were manned by Army
troops with machine guards. This guard looked
pretty scary!
Entrance to Chame. This is a great town for shopping
with selections and prices almost as good as Kathmandu.
They also have a great internet cafe, a post office and
even a bank.
Bill bought a can of fruit cocktail. One of his favorite
trail meals.
The road out of Chame. Of course it is the start of
another hill.
Sixth day and a big pile of snow! This can't be good.
Occasionally the trail was smaller where there had been
a landslide.
Entrance to Bharatang.
Time for dinner and a cigar.
The food was OK, but not one of the bright spots on our
trek.
Our first & last time to stay in the Maya hotel.
But, it did make for and easy walk the next day into
Pisang.
This is the "deluxe side." I couldn't bear to take a
photo of stall #2.
A basic bed. No view. No roar of the river to lull you
to sleep. Just the roar of the wind through the cracks
in the walls.
The porters and the staff played cards for a few hours
despite the near freezing temperatures and the strong
winds. Looks like fun, huh?
